About Us

Our history

At Artisan Chocolates by Saffire all our Chocolates, Truffles, Bars and Novelties are hand-crafted, filled and wrapped by us, in our Shop. Artisan Chocolates by Saffire was started by Angela, as a ‘new hobby’ when she retired in 2004, the business quickly grew from farmers markets, into what is today, a small and successful business, specialising in bespoke corporate gifts and unique flavours and styles. Saffire Artisan products can also be found in a few bespoke local farm shops & delis. Angela’s daughter-in-law Sharlene, joined Saffire over 10 years ago, along with Angela’s son who assists when it becomes hectic at key time of the year. Kathrin, their daughter and Angela’s grand-daughter, joined the business over 8 years ago. Three generations of a family working together reinforces the family business ideals, culture and philosophy.

The artisans

Together we work as a team, each able to support and assist another. We share work, tasks, ideas and ideals, offer opinions and best of all, test out new flavours and chocolate. It’s a hard job being a chocolatier, but someone has to do it, so how could we refuse!


Marketing and Promotions

Visit our shop and Kathrin will probably greet you. Despite her youth, she is very knowledgeable about our business. Responsibilities: front of house, and to promote and market Saffire both locally and nationally. Check out our social media and you will see just how enthusiastic she is.


Production and Operation

Affectionately known as Charlie, is at the heart of our business. Responsibilities: production and development of our exciting range of truffles and keeping us all on track to meet deadlines.


Overview and development

Angela is our founder and senior artisan chocolatier. She has an extensive knowledge of chocolate, its properties, ingredients, legislation and allergens. Responsibilities: Chocolate making workshops and she’s integral to the development of new flavours and lines. Angela is our link with various networking and professional groups.
