About Saffire Chocolates
What makes Saffire Chocolates different?
Saffire Chocolates is a three-generation, family-run chocolate business based in Hingham, Norfolk. We create handmade Belgian chocolates in small batches, with a strong focus on exciting flavours, quality ingredients and products that look as special as they taste. From luxury truffles and chocolate bars to seasonal collections, every product is made with care by our small team.
Are your chocolates handmade?
Yes. Our chocolates are handmade in our Norfolk chocolate unit. We temper the chocolate using specialist tempering machines, while the moulding, filling, decorating, finishing and packing are completed by hand. This allows us to carefully control the quality of every batch and create distinctive designs and flavours.
Where is Saffire Chocolates based?
We are based in Hingham, Norfolk, where our chocolates are made, decorated and packed. Customers can order our artisan chocolates online for delivery across the UK, and we also attend selected markets, events and exhibitions throughout the year.
What chocolate do you use?
We use premium Belgian chocolate across our range, including milk, white and dark chocolate. Our chocolate is sourced through the Cocoa-Trace programme, which supports more sustainable cocoa production and rewards cocoa farmers for producing higher-quality beans.
Ordering & Gifting
Can I send chocolates directly to the recipient?
Yes. You can send your chocolate order directly to the recipient by entering their name and delivery address during checkout. Your order will be carefully packed before being sent, making our handmade Belgian chocolates a convenient gift for birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and other special occasions.
Can I add a gift message to my order?
Yes. You can add a personal gift message in your basket before proceeding to checkout. Your message will be included with the order so the recipient knows who their chocolate gift is from.
Do you offer chocolate gifts for special occasions?
Yes. Our range includes handmade chocolate gifts suitable for birthdays, anniversaries, thank-you presents, Christmas, Easter and other special occasions. You can choose from luxury truffle boxes, handmade chocolate bars, seasonal collections and other chocolate gifts made in Norfolk.
You can view our available products in our online chocolate shop.
How quickly will my chocolate order be dispatched?
We aim to make and dispatch orders as quickly as possible while ensuring every product meets our quality standards. As many of our chocolates are handmade in small batches, dispatch times can vary depending on the size of your order and how busy we are.
During warmer weather, we may delay dispatch slightly to help protect your chocolates in transit. Orders may also take longer during busy seasonal periods such as Christmas and Easter, so we recommend ordering early. Please check the announcement shown on our website for the latest estimated dispatch time.
What is your returns policy?
As chocolate is a perishable food product, we are normally unable to accept returns simply because a customer has changed their mind. This protects food safety and ensures that returned products are not resold.
If there is a problem with your order, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and details of the issue. We will review the situation and work with you to find an appropriate solution.
Delivery & Shipping
What are your delivery options?
We offer Royal Mail Tracked 48 and Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery across the UK. Tracked 48 costs £4.99 and Tracked 24 costs £5.99. UK delivery is free when you spend £65 or more.
Delivery times begin once your order has been dispatched. As our chocolates are handmade, please also allow time for your order to be made and prepared before it is sent.
How long does chocolate delivery take?
Royal Mail Tracked 48 usually aims to deliver within two to three working days after dispatch, while Royal Mail Tracked 24 usually aims to deliver within one working day after dispatch.
These are delivery aims rather than guaranteed arrival dates. Please also allow for our current order preparation time, which is shown on the website and may be longer during busy periods.
Will I receive tracking information?
Yes. Once your order has been dispatched, tracking information will be sent to the email address provided at checkout. You can use this to follow your parcel as it travels through the Royal Mail network.
Do you send chocolates during warm weather?
Yes, but we carefully monitor the temperature before dispatching chocolate orders. During very warm weather, we may delay sending your parcel until conditions are safer to reduce the risk of the chocolate melting in transit.
This may make dispatch slightly slower, but it helps protect the quality of your handmade chocolates. Any important warm-weather delivery updates will be shown on our website.
Do you deliver chocolates internationally?
We currently deliver within the United Kingdom only and do not offer international chocolate delivery through our website.
What should I do if my chocolates arrive damaged?
Please contact us as soon as possible if your chocolates arrive damaged. Include your order number and clear photographs of the chocolates, the internal packaging and the outside of the parcel.
We will review the damage and work with you to find an appropriate solution. Please keep all packaging until we have responded, as it may be needed when investigating the issue with the delivery provider.
Chocolate Care & Allergies
How should I store my chocolates?
Store your chocolates in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat and strong odours. A cupboard or pantry is normally ideal. Keeping chocolate at a steady temperature will help protect its flavour, texture and appearance.
Always keep the chocolates in their original packaging until you are ready to enjoy them.
Should I keep my chocolates in the fridge?
We do not normally recommend refrigerating chocolate because moisture, temperature changes and food odours can affect its appearance and flavour. A cool cupboard is usually the best place to store it.
If your home is particularly warm and refrigeration is necessary, keep the chocolates sealed in their original packaging or an airtight container. Allow them to return to room temperature before opening the packaging and eating them.
How long do your chocolates last?
Shelf life varies depending on the product and its filling. The best-before date will be shown on the packaging, so please check this when your order arrives.
Filled chocolates and truffles may have a shorter shelf life than solid chocolate bars. For the best flavour and texture, we recommend enjoying your chocolates while they are fresh.
Do your chocolates contain allergens?
Some of our products contain allergens such as milk, nuts, peanuts, gluten, soya or other ingredients. Full ingredient and allergen information is provided on the product packaging and where available on the relevant product page.
Our chocolates are made in an environment where different allergens are handled, so we cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from traces of allergens. If you or the recipient has an allergy, please check the information carefully and contact us before ordering if you need further guidance.
Do you make vegan chocolate?
Yes. We offer a selection of dark chocolate products made without dairy ingredients, including several of our handmade chocolate bars. Vegan options will be clearly identified in the product information where applicable.
All products are made in the same environment as milk chocolate and other allergens, so anyone with an allergy should review the ingredient and allergen information carefully before ordering.
Why has my chocolate developed a white coating?
A pale or white coating on chocolate is usually known as chocolate bloom. It can occur when chocolate is exposed to changes in temperature or moisture, causing cocoa butter or sugar to appear on the surface.
Bloomed chocolate may look different and its texture may change, but it is generally still safe to eat. Storing your chocolates in a cool, dry place at a steady temperature will help reduce the chance of this happening.
